State Police: road rage incident turns up stolen handgun

SCITUATE, R.I. (WLNE)– The Rhode Island State Police arrested a Providence man on charges of possessing a stolen gun following a road incident in South Kingstown on Wednesday, according to a police statement.
South Kingstown police had responded to a report of a road rage incident around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, where it was alleged that an occupant of a car brandished a firearm.
Acting on a description of the vehicle, state police and members of the North Kingstown Police Department pulled the suspect over on Route 4, where a search yielded a stolen 9 mm handgun, according to police.
State police said 21-year-old Tariq Famogun, of Providence, now faces several firearms charges, and violated the terms of his probation.
Famogun will also face charges from South Kingstown police related to the road rage incident.
He was scheduled to be arraigned today in Kent County District Court.
