Massachusetts man charged with 68 counts of firearms and domestic violence
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorney General Peter Neronha announced that a man has been charged with 68 counts of firearms and domestic violence-related offenses.
Yaran Drawbridge, 42, of Holden, Mass. was charged by the Office of the Attorney General with 62 counts of large-capacity magazine possession, three counts of possession of a sawed-off rifle, two counts of assault, and one count of domestic disorderly conduct.
In May of last year, Johnston Police responded to a report of domestic disturbance.
Officers reported that the victim was waiting at a neighbors house after she allegedly escaped through a window after being assaulted and held in a chokehold by Drawbridge — her boyfriend at the time of the incident.
According to criminal documentation, the victim reported to officials that Drawbridge was still in the house and possessed multiple firearms.
Johnston Officials entered the defendant’s home and found various types of large capacity magazines and other types of guns in the basement — there was no sign of Drawbridge in the home.
The victim told police officers that Drawbridge has another home in Holden, Mass. and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Drawbridge turned himself in the Johnston Police Headquarters the next day.
Investigators further issued a search warrant at Drawbridge’s Johnston home.
Officers found three additional sawed-off rifles, 62 large capacity magazines, including a variety of other magazines.
The defendant will appear in court on Feb. 7, 2024.
