Woonsocket student arrested for gun, ammunition possession

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – A 14 year old was arrested in Woonsocket for bringing a gun to the high school.

A member of the school’s administration tipped off the resource officer this morning.

The officer found an unloaded pistol, plus ammo in the student’s backpack.

According to police no threats were made.

The student is being held at the Rhode Island Training School.

He is currently being charged with Possession of Firearm on School Grounds, Possession of Firearm by Minors, License Required to Carry Pistol and Possession of Ammunition by a Minor, according to Police.

Police say this incident is still under investigation.

The student will be held at the Training School ahead of a probable cause hearing on October 26th.
