FULL INTERVIEW: Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee talks wind energy, RI income with ABC6

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee sat down with ABC6’s Karah Bailey to discuss his administration’s upcoming plans for the state.

The conversation covered multiple topics, ranging from the timeline of the Washington Bridge repairs to renewable energy and putting more money in Rhode Islanders’ pockets.

“Right now we’re holding to the original strategy of repairing until we hear anything different from the engineers,” McKee said of the Washington Bridge construction.

“But the main thing for us to do is to get it right,” said McKee. “We’re going to be able to manage it to make sure the bridge is open as soon as is safely possible.”

“We’re not only investing in the wind and renewables for the environmental reasons, but we’re also investing because it’s a great opportunity to control our energy costs,” said McKee on upcoming wind turbine initiatives.

“Within 100 days, we will have a plan to help raise incomes and personal wealth throughout the state of Rhode Island,” said McKee. “Let’s make sure that we’re making investments in frameworks that will really provide opportunity for people who live in the state of Rhode Island.”
