Rosemary Heath’s husband was killed while sacrificing himself to save countless others and now she’s about to help save the life of a stranger.

It’s a promise Rosemary Heath made to her husband George before he was tragically killed the night of May 10th 2016 inside the Uno’s at the Silver City Galleria in Taunton. “He made me promise that I would move on and have a happy life,” says Heath.

On Thursday, Rosemary is fulfilling that promise. She’s donating her right kidney to a complete stranger.

“I know that it’s someone in New England getting the kidney and that they are in a Boston hospital,” says Heath.

Rosemary says she made the decision to be an organ donor the night her husband died.

So she’s spent the last three months getting poked and prodded, undergoing every test imaginable.

Then last month she got the call that she was a match. “They can enjoy thanksgiving, Christmas, the holidays and even go on vacation if they wanted to,” adds Heath.

Rosemary says the entire process has in some ways helped her heal.

“We always lived our lives being kind to others you don’t think twice you just do it,” says Heath.

Her husband died protecting others and now she’s fulfilling her promise to move on and in the process, giving a complete stranger the gift of life. “The feeling you get inside, it’s such a huge feeling I can’t even describe it.  This is my last promise being fulfilled so it’s really sentimental,” says Heath.
