Woman from California admits to trafficking methamphetamine in Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — United States Attorney Zachary Cunha said that a California woman admitted to participating in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in Rhode Island.

52-year-old Nora Cecilia Carranza Reyes pled guilty to a charge of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and a charge of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Cunha said that while she was under police surveillance Carranza Reyes and another individual delivered a brown paper bag containing over three pounds of crystal meth to an individual who traveled from Maine to retrieve the package.

The drugs were later seized in Maine during a traffic stop for a routine traffic violation.

Search warrants were executed for Carranza Reyes, a motor vehicle, and the Cranston residence which found over two-and-a-half pounds of meth stashed inside a duffel bag.

Carranza Reyes is scheduled to be sentenced on May 2, 2024.
