Dartmouth man with illegal firearm arrested in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) – A Dartmouth man in possession of an illegal firearm was arrested in New Bedford early Sunday morning.
The New Bedford Police Department says Miguel Rosario, 54, was taken into custody after he was found with a stolen firearm.
Officers responding to a call of a disturbance shortly after midnight Sunday say the complainant reported a man pointing a firearm at their head during an argument over a loud party.
The victim told authorities that the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
Officials say a vehicle matching the victim’s description was spotted on Route 18 and stopped close to the Elm Street intersection.
Police removed the suspect from the vehicle safely and identified the man as Rosario.
Officers say they located a firearm in a satchel bag Rosario was wearing around his shoulder.
The firearm was semi-automatic, loaded with 8 rounds of ammunition and later found to be stolen out of Georgia.
Authorities say Rosario did not have a license to carry.
He was charged with several offenses, including assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license, and possession of stolen property.
