Garage destroyed in Johnston fire

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A garage was destroyed in a fire next to a Johnston home Monday evening.
Chief David Iannuccilli of the Johnston Fire Department said crews responded to calls of a garage fire on Plainfield Pike at 4:50 p.m. on Monday.
Firefighters arrived to find the the standalone structure fully involved and were ultimately able to extinguish the blaze.
Iannuccilli said no one was injured but added that a couple of cars were lost in the fire.
Crews found minor damage to the side of the house alongside the garage and deemed the structure safe.
Officials say the fire is under investigation.
