Fall River police arrest 2 suspects in Iwo Jima memorial vandalism case

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Police Department said it arrested two individuals in connection with the vandalism of the Bicentennial Park Iwo Jima memorial statue.

The department said two 17-year-old males were arrested and charged in connection with the vandalism.

The Iwo Jima memorial replica statue in Fall River was vandalized in late January, according to the Fall River Police Department.

The granite base of the statue, the brass plaque, portable restroom and Iwo Jima monument itself were all vandalized with spray paint on January 27.
