Glocester man convicted of multiple counts of child molestation

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A jury has convicted a Glocester man of multiple counts of child molestation against a female victim under the age of 14 between 2005 and 2009.

James Ballou, 45, was found guilty of one count of first-degree child molestation and two counts of second-degree child molestation after a 12-day jury trial.

The incidents occurred in homes in Glocester and Burrillville, and the victim was known to Ballou.

Ballou is being held at the ACI pending sentencing.

“I am thankful to the victim for coming forward and telling her story,” said Chief Stephen J. Lynch of the Burrillville Police Department.

“The defendant has finally been held accountable for his actions and our community is safer for it.”
