AAA: Car crashes spike after big game

(WLNE)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Car crash rates show significant increases on Sundays after the big game, according to AAA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Based on data from 2017-2021, there are 54% more crashes across the country from 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. compared with the weeks leading up to the game.

This stems from more drivers on the road, and more of them being impaired.
