Officials investigating deadly New Bedford fire

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) – Authorities in New Bedford are investigating a deadly house fire that broke out early Saturday morning.

According to officials the fire began sometime before 3:00 a.m. Saturday, starting in the kitchen before spreading to the roof.

A woman living in a one–story apartment adjoined to a multifamily home on Sycamore Street was found dead following the fire.

Fire officials say the unit is a total loss, with an estimated $80,000 worth of damage.

The fire did not spread to the main building.
