TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) – The Tiverton Public Library is hosting an information session for older adults to learn how they can protect themselves from fraud and scams.

The presentation is called “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels: Protecting Older Adults from Fraud & Scams” and is set to be hosted at 1 p.m. on Monday.

Christopher Ireland, a program counselor from Child and Family of Rhode Island, will be leading the info session.

A press release from officials offered more detail on the presentation:

“Older, retired adults are particularly vulnerable to scams, because they are unable to earn back any money or possessions that they have lost, which can be especially devastating. Christopher Ireland will help attendees learn how to prevent this from happening to them or their loved ones.”

The Tiverton Public Library is located on 34 Roosevelt Avenue.

Officials say the session is free and open to the public.
