Assisted suicide, pharmaceutical price-gouging on the State House docket
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island House Judiciary Committee will meet Thursday to discuss multiple healthcare bills, including an assisted suicide measure.
The bill would establish a legal route for a terminally ill patient to end their life using physician-prescribed medication.
The bill describes the steps that will need to be taken by a physician to prescribe this medication to patients.
Two physicians will need to verify the diagnosis, and the patients will need to verify that they do not have impaired judgment.
Another bill to be discussed is one that will penalize pharmaceutical companies for price-gouging during times of shortages.
