Travelers visit RI to see Newport Car Museum’s newest models

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WLNE) — The Newport Car Museum’s owner Gunther Buerman believes that the audience for model cars won’t be aging out anytime soon, as he continues to add new additions to the museum.
The museum’s private collection features over 95 classic, rare, and exotic cars artistically displayed in a “massively arresting” building. It’s newest addition includes the 2023 Corvette 3LT C8.
Seven appointed galleries display model cars from Ford/Shelby, Corvettes, World Cars, Porsches, Fin Cars, Mopars, and American Muscle Cars.
Buerman shared none of the cars on display date back to before 1954, which ensures the relevancy to car enthusiasts.
“Since the beginning, our objective has been to create a space that redefines what a car museum means to multiple generations of people,” said Buerman. “We’re thrilled that we can put smiles on people’s faces, no matter what their age, gender or background.”
The Newport Car Museum displays cars that can’t be seen at other museums. Some models include the 2015 Porsche 918, 2004 Porsche Carrera GT, and the pièce de résistance 1965 Cobra 427 SC.
The museum’s up-close-and personal freestyle format welcomes individuals from all over without the velvet-covered ropes and audio tour players.
