Rhode Island man is in federal custody for alleged North Providence church arson

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — According to U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha, a Rhode Island man is in federal custody after being charged with a federal criminal complaint of maliciously damaging or destroying property by fire.
Kevin Colantonio, 34, of North Providence, was arrested at his home Thursday.
According to official documents, it is alleged that Colantonio set several fires around the exterior of Shiloh Gospel Temple around midnight on Feb. 11.
The fire was quickly extinguished by North Providence Police and Fire Departments. No injuries were reported.
Based on an ongoing, multi-agency investigation — including a review of numerous videos, witness interviews, and physical evidence collected — the United States Attorney’s Office sought a criminal complaint on Wednesday.
