National Guard unit greeted by governor after returning from Kosovo

QUONSET, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island National Guard 1st Battalion, 126th Aviation returned from a mission to Kosovo on Saturday.

Gov. Dan McKee was there to greet the service members as they got off the plane to return home.

The unit was deployed for 10 months as part of the Kosovo Force mission, during which time they assisted in the rescue of two Swiss tourists who were stranded on a mountain in Albania.

The unit also received valentines from Valentines for Veterans on Valentine’s Day.
