Tiverton teen seriously injured in fiery rollover crash

TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) – A teen was seriously injured in a fiery rollover crash early Tuesday morning in Tiverton.
Police say Owen Sullivan, 19, of Tiverton was ejected from his car in the area of Fish Road and Hooper Street.
Authorities say they responded to reports of a rollover around 12:54 a.m. on Tuesday and found a heavily damaged car on fire.
Officers found Sullivan, the driver and lone occupant, laying near the burning wreckage.
Police say they pulled Sullivan away from the fire and provided emergency first aid until rescue personnel arrived.
An initial investigation revealed that Sullivan was traveling on Fish Road when his car crossed lanes, colliding with a large rock on the opposite side of the roadway.
Officials say the collision launched the car airborne, rolling it over multiple times.
The car traveled a total distance of 370 feet from initial impact.
Tiverton Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and took Sullivan to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries, according to officials.
Authorities say Sullivan remains in critical condition at Rhode Island Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation, but police say speed appears to be a contributing factor.
