SBA deadline for physical storm damage is around the corner

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The U.S. Small Business Administration is reminding Rhode Island residents to apply for the disaster loan for last year’s storm damages before the deadline on March 7.
Survivors in the Providence County areas that incurred damage from severe storms, flooding, and tornadoes on Sept. 10-13 should apply for a physical damage disaster loan.
Disaster survivors with insurance should not wait for their settlement before applying for physical damage.
SBA will work with insurance to reduce or repay the loan.
To be considered for all forms of disaster assistance, applicants are asked to register at DisasterAssistance.gov or download the FEMA app.
If online access is unavailable, the alternative is to call the FEMA helpline at (800) 621-3362.
For those who use 711-Relay or Video Relay Services should also call the helpline number.
Applicants can apply online and receive additional disaster assistance information on the SBA website. If additional assistance is needed, the SBA can be contacted at (800) 659-2955 or e-mailed at disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
Additionally, the SBA said that if you have applied for a disaster loan and not heard back, you may need to submit more information to process the application. Applications that are marked as incomplete may be withdrawn.
The deadline for economic injury is Oct. 7, 2024.
