Attorney: Swansea armed robbery suspect out of state when crime occurred
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — New evidence in the case of an attempted Swansea armed robbery suggests that a suspect in the crime might not be connected.
Giovany Fouyolle appeared in court Wednesday, and a prosecutor said that new information in the case detracts from the identification made at the time Fouyolle’s arrest.
Fouyolle is accused of attempting to rob an armored truck at gunpoint earlier this week, along with another suspect who remains at large.
Fouyolle’s attorney said that the suspect wasn’t involved in the crime and was in another state at the time it occurred.
“It’s not necessarily alibi evidence, but evidence that would show that at the time of robbery Mr. Fouyolle was nowhere near Swansea,” said defense attorney Peter Marano.
“He was actually out of state in a casino where it’s being videotaped.”
Marano added, “There is a significant difference, we believe, in the two types of vehicles, the one my client was stopped in and the one used in the robbery.”
Fouyolle was given $5,000 cash bail at Wednesday’s hearing, and the investigation is ongoing.
