Central Falls cuts ribbon at Pierce Park after renovation

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) — Central Falls Mayor Maria Rivera alongside city officials, youth sport coaches, and community members officially opened the newly renovated Pierce Park.
The park was renovated due to an environmental scan in 2020 that found the presence of soil contaminants, and includes a new little league baseball field and basketball court.
The renovation was funded by a combination of brownfields grant funding from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, American Rescue Plan Act dollars allocated by the city, and investment from the Narragansett Bay Commission to support new stormwater management infrastructure.
“I’m proud of our amazing planning department for brainstorming creative ways we could make renovations at this park possible,” Mayor Rivera said. “Their focus allowed us to keep this important recreational space available in our city.”
