Police investigating homicide after body pulled out of river in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R. I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said it is investigating a homicide after a woman’s body was pulled out of the water in Providence.

The body was pulled out of the Woonasquatucket River Thursday around 1 p.m in the area of 297 Promenade Street.

Members of the RI Medical Examiner’s Office and Providence Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Police and firefighters recovered the body from the river, and the deceased was transferred to the medical examiner.
