Taunton man sentenced to 12 years in prison for child rape
TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, a Taunton man pleaded guilty raping of his 14-year-old godson.
James Robichau, 34, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to charges of child rape, enticing a child under the age of 16, and intimidation of a witness.
Robichau will serve 12 years in state prison, followed by five years supervised probation.
In 2o21, the victim’s guardian found a series of sexually explicit texts Robichau had sent to the victim’s phone between Dec. 202o and May 2021.
Investigation revealed that Robichau was housing the victim, his father, and the victim’s guardian at the time of the incidents.
Reports state that before officially moving in the victim slept over Robichau’s house where he was first violated.
Over the duration of the family’s stay, Robichau sent the victim numerous texts requesting that they meet in various rooms to preform oral sex.
Once the guardian discovered the texts, the defendant begged the victim’s father not to contact the police.
District Attorney Quinn said, “The defendant took advantage of his relationship with, and access to, the victim to sexually molest him. I commend the victim for coming forward, which is the only way the defendant could be held accountable for this despicable abuse.”
