One-on-one with the All Elite Wrestling World Champion before Big Business in Boston

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — All Elite Wrestling returns to TD Garden on March 13 for Big Business!

Digital Reporter TJ Albin sat down one-on-one with the All Elite Wrestling World Champion Samoa Joe to talk about returning to Boston for the big event.

Joe has a great track record when it comes to competing in New England — on two occasions he has won championship gold around the Boston area.

Q: Being a city of champions, would it be safe to say Boston is home-field advantage when it comes to support by Boston fans?

A: “Oh, without a shadow of a doubt. You know, every major world title I’ve won has been in and around the greater Boston area. And I like to say, you know, a Boston crowd wants to see a good fight. I love to start a lot of fights. And every time I get a chance to get back here, you know, I think me and the fans have an understanding. So, you know, we meet somewhere in the middle and usually end up in the championship.”

Q: For you, wrestling for multiple companies like Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, World Wrestling Entertainment and All Elite Wrestling, being a veteran in the world of wrestling, how do you give back to the next generation?

A: “You know, each company I’ve gleaned a lot of knowledge from the people that I’ve, you know, have been fortunate to work with. And, you know, the big thing here in AEW is it’s allowing me to kind of take a guidance role and start, you know, helping along this next generation of wrestlers and this next generation of stars that are going to be seen very shortly. And, you know, I realize that opportunity. I was fortunate that I had a lot of great voices in my career early on. And I hope that many other stars come in the future.”

March 13, for the second time, AEW is at TD Garden for AEW: Big Business. TJ asked for fans that have never been to an AEW Event or to a wrestling show why Big Business should be that first show for them.

Q: What makes AEW different from other wrestling companies?

A: “You know, when you talk about AEW and showing up to see one of our events, the biggest thing you can always expect is, you know, our athletes are the elite of the elite that are the very best in the world and they’re from all over the world. You know, there isn’t a full world competition here. We actually go out, we find the best athletes from the best companies in the world…They come to compete in AEW, and that definitely will be happening at the TD Garden Arena for big business. And who knows? I’m hearing rumblings that there may be some big local stars that might be around to come that day.”
