PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – Winners of the 20th annual Pawtucket Photo Contest are set to be announced Sunday, September 30, at 4 p.m.

This year, the theme of the contest was “Pawtucket: A Closer Look.” The city received over 500 submissions, which have been on display at the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center throughout the month of September.

The contest was started as a way to highlight the daily life and historic locations of Pawtucket through photography.

Sunday, twelve winning photos will be chosen by a panel of professional photographers. One photo will also be chosen by Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien, per tradition.

All winning photos will used as backdrops for the 2019 City of Pawtucket Photo Calendar. The photo selected by Mayor Grebien will be used as the cover photo for the calendar.

The Mayor’s pick and two top photos will receive cash prizes. Authors of the remaining selected photos will receive gift certificates.

A public reception to announce the winners and introduce the judges will be held Sunday, September 30 at 4:00 p.m. at the Blackstone Valley Visitor’s Center.
