Suspect arrested in New Bedford shooting incident

NEW BEDFORD (WLNE) — New Bedford police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting on Brock Avenue on February 15.

Danielson Varela, 18, was arrested on February 23 for the shooting after an investigation by Detective Jessica Niccoli.

No one was injured in the incident, but a vehicle was damaged in the shooting.

Varela is being charged with firing a gun within 500 feet of a building, assault and battery by firearm and destruction of property.

He is being held without bail at the Dartmouth House of Correction.

Additional suspects are still being sought in this active investigation.
