METHUEN, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has taken in nearly two farm’s worth of animals from a property in Methuen.

A Massachusetts farm surrendered more than 100 animals including nearly 100 birds, 49 goats and two ponies.

The MSPCA is now issuing an urgent call for farm bird adopters to help find homes for the surrendered animals.

“All told, we basically took in two entire farms’ worth of animals on our single property in a span of days,” said MSPCA-Angell Vice President of Animal Protection, Mike Keiley. “Caring for them has required all hands on deck.”

The MSPCA emphasized that these animals were not victims of poor treatment and were received in “good condition,” and were only surrendered because the owner was experiencing a personal crisis.

Anyone interested in adopting any of the animals can visit during open hours, Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 3 p.m. or submit an inquiry at mspca.org/nevinsadopt.
