Fall River postal worker sentenced for obstructing mail

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) – A U.S. Postal Service employee in Fall River was sentenced on Monday for obstructing mail.

Rafael De Los Angeles, 43, was sentenced in Boston federal court to time served (one day in prison) and six months of supervised release.

The Massachusetts District Attorney’s Office said De Los Angeles knowingly and willfully obstructed the passage of five mailed packages he was responsible for delivering.

The incidents took place on five separate occasions in August 2017, in which De Los Angeles intentionally drove packages to the incorrect locations, according to authorities.

De Los Angeles scanned the packages to record them as having been delivered to the correct addresses, then ripped off the address labels and gave the packages to someone other than the listed recipients, per officials.

The District Attorney’s Office said De Los Angeles pleaded guilty to five counts of obstruction of mail back in December 2023.
