PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — RIDOT Director Peter Alviti appeared on the News with Gene Valicenti on 99.7 WPRO Thursday, discussing the timeline of the Washington Bridge repair or replacement decision.

Valicenti asked Alviti for an update on the decision related to the bridge work.

“I expect over the next week or so their week or so, their work will be complete, they will report on that to me and the governor and we hope to very soon to giving them the go ahead to begin the work to take down the parts of the bridge that need to come down and rebuild a new bridge there,” said Alviti about information gathered from consultants.

“We’re getting close.”

Alviti described a steady flow of information coming into RIDOT from the consultants that is being consolidated into the eventual work plan.

“When I say ‘new bridge’ I mean whatever form it takes,” said Alviti in response to the question of whether a full replacement would be built.

“The final scope will be determined over the next week or so.”
