Providence celebrates Irish heritage with St. Patrick’s Day Parade

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Thousands of Rhode Islanders celebrated St. Patrick’s Day today in parade throughout Downtown Providence.

Sen. Jack Reed also marched alongside this year’s Grand Marshal, Dan McGowan of the Boston Globe.

Jim Riley, otherwise known as the parade’s “Official Voice”, served as this year’s Deputy Grand Marshal.

The parade began at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 9, on the corner of Smith Street and Wyndham Avenue and ended at the Rhode Island State House.
