ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) – Three Attleboro High School students were sent to a local hospital Thursday after overdosing on chocolate laced with marijuana.

The Attleboro Schools superintendent’s office confirmed Monday that three Attleboro High School students were sent to the hospital Thursday after knowingly consuming chocolate that contained THC oil – the active ingredient in marijuana.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m. Thursday, the three students involved began feeling sick and showing signs of THC overdose. They were sent to a local hospital for treatment and then released to their parents.

Officials say it is believed that the students received the edibles from a fellow student.

The Attleboro High School resource officer will be conducting an investigation into the incident.

As of now, no charges have been filed against the students.
