Police arrest fourth person in North Providence youth basketball fight

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Police arrested a fourth person after an altercation at a youth basketball game in North Providence on Saturday.
Officials said 38-year-old Timothy Volpi from North Providence was arrested Monday evening for his involvement in an incident at Birchwood Middle School.
Police said the fight occurred at an ages 5-7 youth basketball game, after two opposing coaches started a verbal argument over a call.
The argument began to escalate, prompting a parent from the stands to intervene, per authorities.
Investigators said Volpi was identified and charged with disorderly conduct after a review of gymnasium camera footage.
He joins the the following individuals who were also arrested for disorderly conduct:
- Patrick Marchand, 29, of Providence
- Gregory Adams, 38, of North Providence
- John Angell, 39, of North Providence
Volpi was given a 3rd District court date of March 21, according to officials.
