Rhode Island Senate to discuss several new firearms laws

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Tuesday the senate judiciary committee will meet to hear several bills on firearm regulation.

The first bill would require firearm owners to take a basic safety test with the department of environmental management to own a gun and undergo a review of the test every two years.

Two of the other bills being discussed would require trigger locks to be sold with rifles and shotguns, as well as a ban on the sale, possession

and transfer of assault weapons in the state.
