Police search woods in West Greenwich after person flees traffic stop

WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — Police searched the woods next to a road in West Greenwich on Tuesday night after a person fled a traffic stop.

Authorities said a person was stopped for a traffic violation Tuesday evening on Nooseneck Hill Road and fled the area on foot.

ABC 6 News crews observed police searching a wooded area beside the road and a white car being towed from the scene just before 10:30 p.m.

Officials said no arrests have been made but added that the incident remains under investigation.

Police said there is no apparent threat to the public regarding the incident.
