North Smithfield Police arrest man for assault, reckless driving after chase
NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The North Smithfield Police Department said that a Fall River man was arrested after fleeing from police on March 10.
49-year-old William Fellows was charged with felony assault and/or battery, reckless driving and other offenses. and obstructing an officer in execution of duty.
Police said they assisted Woonsocket police for a pursuit that entered the town.
The vehicle sped down Eddie Dowling Highway, through the construction zone near Sayles Hill, and drove behind a home on Valley View Drive.
Police said they believed the suspect was attempting to abandon the vehicle, but the car then drove towards officers who were out of their cars and continued driving down the road.
The suspect eventually spun out and hit a police cruiser on Iron Mine Hill Road, where Fellows was taken into custody.
He was then arraigned and bond was set at $10,000.
