Prescribed burns to be conducted at Arcadia Management Area

RICHMOND, R.I. (WLNE) —The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management will be conducting prescribed burns at Pratt Farm located within the Arcadia Management Area on the Richmond-Exeter line.

The DEM will be conducting these burns as part of their forest fire program.

The program uses these prescribed burns to help protect communities from extreme fires by reducing hazardous natural fuels.

This comes after the DEM recorded 78 wildfires encompassing 582 acres of land in 2023.
