Man accused of dragging Burrillville police officers with his car arrested in Maine
BURRILLVILLE, Mass. (WLNE) — The Burrillville Police Department said that a Woonsocket man was arrested in Maine in connection with an incident where he allegedly dragged two police officers with his car.
29-year-old Tyler Perry was charged with two counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon, possession of narcotics, reckless driving, resisting arrest, obstructing police, and disorderly conduct.
He was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Violent Offender Task Force on March 14.
The department said that a sedan was stopped on Chapel Street around 10 p.m. after being observed speeding by an officer.
During the stop, the driver was found to have not registered the vehicle, insured the vehicle, or have a license to drive it.
Police said that during questioning the suspect became “combative” and attempted to get back into his car while it was being towed.
While officers tried to forcibly remove the suspect from the car, the suspect accelerated, dragging the officers a short distance and causing injuries.
On Feb. 17, the department, alongside Woonsocket police, executed a search warrant on the suspect’s home on Greene Street in Woonsocket.
During the search the sedan was seized.
