Kittens rescued from ceiling of New Bedford restaurant

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Animal Rescue League of Boston rescued a mom and neonatal kittens from the ceiling of a New Bedford restaurant.
According to staff and a local cat feeder, the mother cat had been roaming the premises several weeks ago.
Concern began to grow once staff started to hear kittens mewing and contacted ARL.
Upon arrival, ARL agents were able to spot the kittens through a hole in the ceiling.
The agents were able to scoop four kittens and safely transport them to ARL’s Boston Animal Care and Adoption Center for veterinary care.
After working to secure the kittens, ARL attempted to lure the mother in but were unsuccesful.
ARL placed a cat-friendly trap in the ceiling space where she entered later that night.
ARL returned to pick up the mother cat and reunite her with her kittens in Boston.
The cat family has been placed into foster care, which will allow for the mother to quietly care for her newborns.
At only three-weeks old, the kittens need time to wean from their mother.
They will find their forever homes once this process is complete.
The mother will also be spayed put up for adoption, ARL shares.
ARL urges the public to contact them if a cat with offspring are discovered during this time of year.
