Providence Fire rescues man from capsized boat
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A boater was rescued by the Providence Fire Department Sunday.
Around 4:20 p.m. on March 17, a passerby noticed a man on a capsized boat.
According to PFD, upon arrival they found a man on top of the bottom portion of an overturned sailboat, with no life vest.
Caught in the current, the boater drifted toward the port of Providence.
The man was rescued via the fire department’s Special Hazards Marine Unit. He suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment or transport.
The boat was secured at the Rhode Island Yacht Club.
