WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A Warwick artist in hospice care got one last chance to show off his work Saturday.
Michael Sprague, 78, has been a painter for nearly three decades. Recently, his condition has declined, and his dying wish was to get an art show.
Thanks to the staff at the Avalon Nursing Home, Sprague’s paintings were hung up in rooms inside the nursing home and across tables for visitors to check out.
"He names every painting! They’re all titled separately, they’re all individual. He gives tons of his art away to staff members, Warwick Police Department, everywhere! Everywhere has a painting from Michael," said Cheryl Harris, Director of Nursing at Avalon.
Sprague has produced more than 200 paintings in just the last decade while living at Avalon.
