Convenience store employee robbed outside North Providence bank

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A convenience store employee was robbed outside of a bank in North Providence on Tuesday.

Police said an employee of Family Dollar was attempting to deposit a cash bag at Citizens Bank on Charles Street when a man assaulted her in the parking lot and stole the bag.

Officials said the man fled in a silver Jeep Cherokee.

The Family Dollar employee was uninjured in the incident, according to authorities.

Police did not release the amount of cash stolen and said the case is still under investigation.
