Health officials warn of contaminated bottled water from Easton

EASTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Officials are warning the public of contaminated bottled drinking water from an Easton-based company.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) advised consumers on Wednesday not to drink bottled water from Simpson Spring Company due to per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination.

PFAS are a group of manufactured chemicals that may lead to adverse health effects with certain levels of exposure, according to DPH.

Officials said PFAS levels found in water bottled and distributed by Simpson Spring exceeded drinking water standards.

Those with Simpson Spring water in their home or establishment should not consume the product and pour the water down a drain and recycle any plastic receptacle, per authorities.

Officials said not to buy or consume new products from Simpson Spring until further notice.

DPH’s Food Protection Program will be working with the company to correct the violations.
