Massachusetts added to Connecticut travel advisory list, as Gov. Baker pleads for people to stop partying

BOSTON, M.A. (WLNE) — Connecticut has added their northern neighbors, Massachusetts, to their travel advisory list, as positive Covid-19 case numbers have risen to levels the Bay State hasn’t seen since May.

Massachusetts residents travelling to Connecticut must now fill out a travel form upon arriving and show proof of a negative Covid-19 test, or they will be asked to quarantine for 14 days.

On Tuesday, Massachusetts Governor, Charlie Baker, pointed the finger at young people, attributing the latest spike in cases to residents under the age of 30.

“Young people need to be serious about dealing with Covid,” Baker said Tuesday.

According to state data, half of all new positive cases are a result of social gatherings and household transmission.

Roughly 300 new positive cases per day are coming from ‘Under 30’ age group.

“There’s just no way around it,” Baker said. “The holidays have to look and feel different this year if we’re going to keep up the fight against COVID-19.”

In response, Governor Baker is urging all residents to avoid Halloween parties this year and limit Thanksgiving guests.

Baker says he’s reliant on state testing and data to target new cluster groups, and says he does not want to see the state shut down again.
