Cat dies after fire at house in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A cat died in a fire at a home on Ayrault Street in Providence on Sunday.

Chief Derek Silva said that the department responded to the fire around 1 p.m.

The fire extended to the vinyl siding of a neighboring home, which brought a response of 47 firefighters.

No injuries to people were reported. One cat died in the fire while five others were rescued.

Six occupants of the house are being helped by the Red Cross and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
