Driver of snowplow that hit and killed elderly woman fined

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The driver of a snowplow that hit and killed a senior citizen in North Providence was back in court.

According to prosecutors, Lloyd Card was driving a snowplow on January 16th, when 71-year-old Maria Vega Rivera was hit and killed in the parking lot of the Maple Garden Apartments.

Last Friday Card was issued three fines, a $250 fine for driving with a suspended license, $85 for driving with an expired registration and $500 for not having insurance.

Police say the fines are the largest allowed by law, but he will not serve prison time.
