Five people, one dog displaced in Cranston fire

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — An early morning fire on Montgomery Avenue has displaced five people and one dog.

The fire was first reported at 1:15 a.m. and was believed to have started in the basement of the building.

It took crews between 20-25 minutes to extinguish the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

The investigation is ongoing but the cause is believed to be an electrical issue.
