Woonsocket man sentenced in child molestation case

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A Woonsocket man was sentenced to 13 years in the Adult Correctional Institutions (ACI) for first-degree child molestation Friday.

Peterson Ramirez, 37, pleaded nolo contendere to one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree child molestation against a female victim under the age of 14 from 2018 to 2021.

Ramirez was sentenced to 30 years with 13 to serve in the ACI and 17-year suspended sentence and 30 years probation.

He was also ordered to a lifetime sex offender registration, sex offender counseling and a no contact order with the victim.

“I commend the victim’s bravery in coming forward so that this defendant could be held accountable,” said Woonsocket Police Chief Thomas F. Oates, III. “Justice was served in this case, and I thank Detective Koneczny, the men and women of the Woonsocket Police Department, and the Attorney General’s Office for their hard work.”
