One hospitalized after Providence apartment fire

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A person was injured in an apartment fire in Providence on Monday afternoon.

Officials said a tenant was taken to the hospital with minor injuries following a fire on Gallup Street around 2:30 p.m.

The fire originated in a mattress on the second floor of the structure and was quickly extinguished, according to authorities.

Officials said only one person was displaced by the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
