Camera found in Hasbro Children’s Hospital bathroom, employee taken into custody

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A former Lifespan employee was taken into custody Wednesday after a camera was found in a Hasbro Children’s Hospital bathroom.

According to a statement from the hospital, a hidden camera was found Tuesday connecting to a USB wall charger in a locked staff bathroom that was inaccessible to patients or the public.

Officials said the staff member who found the camera immediately removed the device and notified police and Lifespan security who “completed an exhaustive sweep of all hospital bathrooms.”

A Lifespan employee was later taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon, after which he was questioned and confessed to authorities.

A spokesperson for Lifespan said the man no longer has access to Lifespan facilities or employment, adding that the “welfare of our staff is our top priority and we are providing support to affected staff.”
