Former Patriots star Malcolm Butler pleads not guilty to DUI charges

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Malcolm Butler plead not guilty to DUI charges in Kent County District Court Thursday morning.

The former Patriot was arrested on March 16 on Mineral Spring Avenue in North Providence.

The officer who arrested Butler says Butler’s car was stopped and blocking a lane of traffic.

The officer also mentions that Butler smelled strongly of alcohol and was slurring his speech and also refused to take any sobriety tests at the scene and a chemical test at the police station.

Thursday in court Butler’s attorney pleaded not guilty for the former two-time Super Bowl champion with the Patriots.

Butler did not speak in court and refused comment on his way out of the courthouse but gave a wave to the cameras on his way to his car.

He’s set to appear in traffic court Friday and is due back in district court on April 18.
